Prayer, an Act of Faith
The Unknown Power of Prayer
Prayer is a beautiful act it has no boundaries.
When we are focused on a particular issue the odds of coming up with a solution are heightened in a group effort the focus is even greater and the problem being addressed is more apt to be solved with the various points of view on the topic. I suggest prayer works the same way.
Forms of prayer
Compassion (prayer to help one or a group) this is not merely people but people and all other life. I believe this is the most important prayer there is and collective focus should be used in this form of prayer. There have been scientific studies on collective compassionate prayer proving they not only work but work on a worldwide level! (A collective group can compassionately pray for someone half way around the world with positive results.)
Forgiveness (prayer to release us from our wrong doings) this prayer is somewhat lacking in its present state although it serves some solace it does not accomplish real forgiveness of one’s self. Can you really forgive yourself by keeping a mistake secret? I would suggest not and the act of telling one person about an error of judgment is only giving them power over the self. Although it is hard for most to admit error in an open forum or collective group I would suggest doing just that. Openly admit the error of judgment, talk openly within the collective group about it ask them forgiveness and then put it up. The openness of the misdeed tends to make one much more mindful the next time… the forgiveness of the group is rewarding and one can go about forgiving themselves.
Goals (prayer for things or self-gratification) we are human and all humans ask for self-gratification in prayer. Whether it is for a better job, a house, money, or self-improvement, we will pray for stuff and it’s normal. I guess it is our weakness. That said if you are going to pray for something again I would suggests putting it to the collective group in the form of goals one has. Allow the spirit of the group work with you.
Thankfulness (joyous prayer) there is so much for each person to be thankful for this is another wonderful prayer. When you are thankful do you smile looking at the person with hand out to thank them? Sure!
Prayer is much the same as meditation and even yoga. One is for the spirit in action, another is for centering mind and spirit and the last is for centering the mind, spirit, and body. They say that one should meditate for 10 minutes a day although we all know there is a preparation time involved a settling down of the body, if you would. Most yoga classes take an hour and fifteen minutes for preparation time. The same applies to traditional religious prayer. Walking in from a busy street into a group the body and mind is not prepared to engage fully in prayer at least not enough to be effective.
Important steps to take in prayer:
For the collective group to perform well they will need to know each other or get to know each other. In a collective group setting you might take the time to openly greet one another, touch whether by hand touch or hug with well wishing. You will wish to discuss what the groups’ intentions are so everyone knows the points of focus. Once in place take a deep breath and breathe out slowly eyes closed so you can completely relax so you can focus on your prayers. You might as a collective group experiment with the words that you are choosing to use during prayer; some words do work better than others.
Collective prayer, I think, is the most effective form of prayer that is not to say that singular pray isn’t just as important because indeed it is. We might remember that our thoughts are the beginning of all action and faith in the results heightens the possibility of a positive outcome. Science has proven prayer over water makes a difference in the cellular construction of the water. Prayer is beautiful and more powerful than most of us know. Could we change the world with collective prayer?
If you question the power of prayer this is a study showing the results of thought over water!
